In the quest to build an excellent world class Univeristy, the Lagos State Univeristy of Science and Technology, Ikorodu organized a one-day orientation workshop for staff members of the institution on Monday 13th November, 2023.

The workshop themed “Building an Excellence World-Class University” brought together world class academia for the programme. Among the academia were Prof. Lanre Fagbohun, the immediate Past Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Segun Fatusi, Vice-Chancellor University of Medical Sciences Ondo State, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Abiodun Akinpelu of Lagos State University and Dr. Taiwo Ipaye a former Registrar of the University of Lagos amongst other Professors of the University.

Topical issues for attainment of excellent world-class university treated during the workshop, includes: Mindset for an Excellence University; Research and Grant-Manship; Staff Students’ Relationship; Pathway to Internalization; Effective Financial Function; Modern Teaching and Examinations and Project Management Techniques.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya in his remarks noted that, excellence refers to the quality of being outstanding or extremely good. He further opined that LASUSTECH is committing to be a University that is outstanding and one of the best in the world.“To achieve being the best, we need to work hard to achieve enviable position of the IVY League universities” he said.

Prof. Lanre Fagbohun admonished that to be an excellent university, LASUSTECH must run a stable academic calendar, staff must be diligent, maintain discipline and encourage resolvable disputation while Prof. Segun Fatusi noted that to be the best, the university must encourage research, which is a mark that distinguishes in any university.

The Panel Sessions addressed issues on staff and students’ relationship and also engaging 21st century technology based teaching to enhance teaching in the university. The Panel Sessions were chaired by Prof. Abiodun Denloye, the Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Prof. Basirat Olusola-Folarin, the Vice Chancellor (Administration) respectively.
