The Lagos State University of Science and Technology is partnering with Lagos State Science, Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) with a view to encouraging students and members of staff to do more on research and innovations that drives technology.
This was disclosed on Tuesday, 16th May, 2023 during a courtesy visit of the LASRIC Team and the Honourable Commissioner of Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology to the Institution at the University Council Chambers, Ikorodu.

Members of LASRIC Prof. M.A Aretekhai and Dr. Mrs. folashade Ayinde stated that LASRIC is focused on Research and Innovation that benefits the society. They informed that the Council has sponsored over 40 research projects and more still in progress. They also informed that the team has also visited various tertiary institutions in Lagos State to seek collaboration.
Also speaking, the Honourable Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology Dr. Hakeem Popoola Fahm in his remarks said that research is key to the development of any institution and also instrumental to the growth of the state and nation at large.
“LASRIC is committed to providing support to individuals and institutions who has laudable research works focused on the social and economic development of Lagos State” he said.

The Commissioner assured the management that LASRIC is willing to collaborate with the University having read the signal of readiness on the part of the University management. He noted that the Vice Chancellor is also a beneficiary of LASRIC research grant and the first researcher to submit his report to LASRIC.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya appreciated the commissioner and his team for the visit, he pleaded that they extend opportunities to access international research grants., He informed that research is one of the key areas on LASUSTECH agenda. He also requested for campus WiFi facility for the university as well as grants to challenge the university in the area of research.
Members of staff who had earlier benefited from LASRIC grants include Dr. Oguntoyinbo, Mrs.Tolu Ojo, Dr.Yakub Bankole and Engr. Olalere Rafiu.
