HOD Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department
"To produce competent and technically sound Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduate capable of proffering solutions to challenges related to society, environment and industries using innovation and emerging technologies."
Civil Engineering is the second – oldest engineering discipline, preceded only by military engineering. It is perhaps the broadest of the engineering disciplines. It deals with the planning, design, construction and management of buildings, roads, bridges, dams, canals, rail-roads, airports, water – supply and wastewater systems, harbours, aqueducts, tunnels, and other engineered infrastructures. The major sub – divisions of Civil Engineering include
The philosophy to this programme is in consonance with the national goals and objectives of industrialization and self–reliance. The undergraduates in Civil Engineering and Construction programme is geared towards early broad-based training in general engineering and technology; the development of a thorough engineering practice after training, practical application of Civil Engineering in meeting the basic human needs, and close association of the programme with engineering industries in the country.
Graduates of the Civil Engineering and Construction programme should have acquired high academic standards with adequate practical background to be of immediate value to industry and the nation in general. The programme is structured in such away that students will have the opportunity to take courses that will provide a basic understanding of all areas of civil engineering practice, while they can concentrate on any of the following options in the final year: Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering and Construction Engineering.
The objectives of the programme are to adopt the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in:
